Pelaa 1.0.6

Released: 1 August 2026 (build 31)

A reliability release, and worth installing even though there is nothing new to look at. Exports that failed for no visible reason now work, saved projects reopen with every clip intact, and Pelaa now tells you up front when a video file is going to cause trouble.

Exports no longer fail on downloaded footage

Some video files carry an audio track macOS has no way to read. Nothing looks wrong: the video plays, you tag a whole game, and then the export stops with "The operation could not be completed" and nothing else to go on.

That export now completes. The unreadable audio is left out, which costs you nothing, because that audio was never audible in Pelaa or in QuickTime Player. You get your clips instead of an error.

When an export does fail for some other reason, the message now says why rather than giving you the same nine words every time.

Saved projects reopen intact

If the video inside a saved project was ever replaced in place, by a backup restore, a cloud sync, or a re-encode, the project could come back half working. Stop frames still played, but every video clip in the stack was skipped. The edit was never lost, and Pelaa now finds its video again on its own.

Projects already in this state repair themselves the next time you open them.

Pelaa tells you about a problem file when you open it

Open a video whose audio or video macOS cannot read and Pelaa now says so immediately, names what will and will not work, and tells you how to get a copy that works. Previously you found out at the export, after the tagging was done.

Normal footage is unaffected and never shows this notice.
