This release is about the reel you hand a player. What each clip says while it plays, and how you move around the part of the game you are working on.
A clip can carry a note
Type a line on a clip in the Stack and it shows over the video while that clip plays. It is not a comment you leave for yourself in the app. It is in the exported file, so the player watching the reel on a phone reads the same line you wrote.
Notes number themselves in the order they play, 1, 2, 3. Move a clip or drop a new one in the middle and everything after it renumbers itself. The clip's own number stays where it was.
Show Clip Notes turns them on and off, and it is in three places now: the Stack menu in the menu bar, the Stack pull-down, and an icon on the Stack edit bar between the title card and the scissors. All three are the same switch.
A row can title itself
Give a row of clips a title slide made from the row name, in one step, and undo it if you do not like it. It looks exactly like a title card you make by hand, because it is one.
A selection decides where the playhead can go
Select clips in the Track and the playhead stays inside them. Scrubbing, the arrow keys and Tab all travel the selected clips only, row by row, left to right, so you can work through six power plays without dragging past everything in between.
Tab is live only while something is selected. From inside a clip, Tab goes to the next clip's start and Shift+Tab back to this one's. Tags that overlap in time count as one stretch of footage, so a rectangle drawn across several rows travels every row it caught. Escape clears the selection, which nothing did before.
Also in this release
- The note popup and the New Stack and Rename popups are one card in the app's own dark chrome. No box around the text, an accent rule under it, Return commits and Escape cancels.
- Exporting a Track with clips from several videos now cuts each tag from its own file. Before, every clip came out of one of them.
- Split a clip and both halves keep the clip number they came from.
- The edit bars fold correctly when the window is narrow, and a stack clip's number and duration stay centred at any zoom.
- Clicks no longer die on the Track after you dismiss a note.
